Jewellery cleaner can be expensive, not to mention crammed with chemicals. I have always fancied making my own but assumed it would be tricky and time consuming. How wrong I was! This is a super easy and cheap way of making your own.
Come closer and let me show you how my jewellery went from murky to perky! This is a method normally used on silver but I thought I would give it a whirl with my gold and it worked wonders. You will need:
- Tear off some foil, large enough to cover the inside of your bowl and use it to line.
- Add 2 heaped tablespoons of salt (or bicarb if you have it).
- Carefully pour in boiling water until your jewellery is completely covered.
- Leave for 5-10 minutes.
- Fish out your jewellery (carefully as the water may still be hot) and rinse under the tap to remove any salt. Dry off and buff to finish!
