The Benefits of Online Shopping

Freebies World wrote this awesome sponsored post to help you out when shopping online.

The Benefits Of Shopping OnlineBattling the shops when you have a brood of kids in tow, a busy job and a limited time frame can be stressful – not to mention unproductive – so it’s no wonder that so many of us are opting to shop online.

At Freebies World we consider ourselves to be quite the shopping aficionados, so we thought we’d share our top tips on helping you become the same (assuming you aren’t already, that is). Pour yourself a glass of wine or make yourself a cup of tea and get saving!

Avoid the rush

When faced with the choice of a stressful day in town battling crowds or shopping from the comfort of the sofa, we’d choose the sofa every time. Most highstreet shops offer a fantastic online shopping experience so you can still get all of your favourite brands and essentials from them. The internet is also a great place to find more unique, bespoke pieces that you wouldn’t be able to find in the usual retailers.

Price comparison

Online shopping allows you to compare prices quickly and easily. Just search for the brand and product you’re looking for and check out the top 6 or so prices. Bear in mind the delivery cost and delivery time frame for each as this may differ and may explain why some prices are higher than others.

Before you buy anything, have a search for free delivery codes, discount codes or other offers. You might be able to bag yourself free next day delivery or a bit of money off your purchase.

Many people often worry about the security of online shopping but it’s totally safe if you take the right measures. Here are a few ways you can make sure your payment is successful:

  • First of all, make sure there is a padlock symbol in the browser window frame, which appears when you attempt to log in or register. Be sure that the padlock is not on the page itself as this will probably indicate a fraudulent site.
  • The web address should begin with ‘https://’. The ‘s’ stands for ‘secure’.
  • If using the latest version of your browser, the address bar or the name of the site owner will turn green.
  • Most reputable retailers ask you to enter a Secure Code which is linked to your bank account at the last stage of payment. This is a code that only you will know, so it stops fraudulent payments being made by someone other than the cardholder.
  • PayPal is a quick and easy way to pay for things online. Once you sign up with them, you’ll only need to enter a password at checkout rather than filling out all of your card details.

If you’re new to online shopping you might be a bit worried about returning unwanted items. Don’t worry, most retailers make this as easy as possible for you and offer free returns, free parcel pick-ups, drop off services etc. Make sure you check this out before you buy so you’re aware of all their terms and conditions.

If you love to save money, head over to Freebies World for some great offers and giveaways. We source the best freebies from beauty products and eyebrow waxes to burgers and dough balls. The more you save with us, the more money you have to spend on shopping.

Shop on the go

The beauty of online shopping is that it can be done anywhere at any time, especially when you have a smart phone. Download the apps of your favourite shops and sites, store your details and pick up whatever you need, whenever you need it. There are also lots of apps available that allow you to scan barcodes to compare prices online. ‘Skinflint’ for example is great for comparing prices of gadgets and techy products.

Get creative

Facebook and Twitter are great resources for keeping up with the latest offers and shopping events and many retailers will offer their followers exclusive discounts and promo codes. Pinterest is also a fab place to pick up creative ideas for making inexpensive gifts. Give it a go! Just sign up and search for what you’re looking for.

  1. I realise this is a sponsored post, but you missed the two best tips for online shopping.

    1. Go through a cashback site.

    2. Use the Boots Treat Street points booster which pops up on the website of any retailer that does Boots points. Click it, and voila. So if, say, I’m shopping on ASOS, I go through Quidco to get cashback AND click for Boots points AND if I find a discount I can use that too. Bargain.

  2. Hi there Annie, thanks for your comment- great name by the way! Yes, I totally agree with your additions. Like you say, this was a post written by Freebies World, not myself but I’m sure they would also find your tips very handy! Thanks again.

  3. Hi Annie,

Speaking of Boots, they have good three-for-two offers on small Christmas gifts at the moment, and as usual a half-price offer on a larger gift pack. I bought a Champneys £50 pack for £24 a week or two ago. And got loyalty points too, of course.

Well done on your daily blog throughout November – almost there now!

  4. Hi Helen, yes you are absolutely right about Boots, it can be pretty fabulous. I’ve been naughty and missed a couple of posts but will make up for it! :)

  5. Hi, I do believe this is a great blog. I stumbledupon it ;) I’m going to come back once again since I
bookmarked it. Money and freedom is the greatest way to change, may you
be rich and continue to guide other people.

  6. I absolutely love your blog and find almost all of
your post’s to be just what I’m looking for. Does one offer guest writers to write content in your case?

I wouldn’t mind producing a post or elaborating on a number
of the subjects you write with regards to here.
    Again, awesome website!
