Sample Size To Full Size- Making Sure It’s Worth It

It’s so difficult to know which beauty products to invest in. Some beauty products have so much hype around them, it makes me want to stray from my budget. I tend to do a fair amount of research before I get to that stage though but find blogger reviews can tip me over the edge, as I trust bloggers so much more than magazines and salespeople!

What I’ve trained myself to do now, is to ask for free samples or buy the travel sized version first before I part with the big bucks. This has already saved me stacks of cash on trying products that ultimately disappointed me.

One, that had me at the stage of panic was Estee Lauder Advance Night Repair. It’s stupidly expensive but has incredible customer and blogger reviews so I knew I had to try it.

I asked the lady at the counter for a sachet (anybody else want to physically sashay when you read that?!) which then lead me nicely into a request for the mini-pot and then it convinced me the investment was worth it and I opted for the full sized version!

How do you approach big beauty purchases?

  1. I always get nervous to ask for samples, I don’t know why. I like to buy makeup when it comes with the free gift of all the trial size makeup so I can try everything. Like you, I do a ridiculous amount of research before I buy an expensive product!

  2. I know exactly what you mean kristin! Happy ‘sample requesting!’.
